Some dangers can appear inside the church, around spiritual activities, leadership, relationships, money, influence, and even ministry.

Key Text:
James 1:22
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
It is possible to hear the Word of God every Sunday, read the Bible every morning, listen to sermons every day, and still remain spiritually unchanged.
Why?
Because God did not give us His Word merely to admire, quote, or memorize. He gave us His Word to obey and practice.
A Bible that is always open but never obeyed cannot transform a life.
Many Christians know what the Bible says about forgiveness, but they refuse to forgive.
They know what it says about giving, but they refuse to give.
They know what it says about holiness, but continue in compromise.
They know what it says about love, but treat people with hatred.
The blessing is not only in knowing God’s Word; there is blessing in doing it.
“Blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
Jesus connects hearing with keeping.
God’s Word should move from our ears to our hearts, and from our hearts into our actions.
3. Matthew 7:24–25
Jesus said the wise man is the one who hears His sayings and does them.
The wise man built his house upon the rock.
Notice something important: both the wise man and the foolish man heard.
The difference was not what they heard.
The difference was what they did with what they heard.
Colossians 3:17 — “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
- OBEY EVEN WHEN IT IS DIFFICULT
Anyone can obey God’s Word when obedience is convenient.
But spiritual maturity is revealed when God’s instruction conflicts with our feelings.
God says:
Forgive.
Your emotions say, “Get revenge.”
God says:
Love your enemies.
Your flesh says, “Fight back.”
God says:
Tell the truth.
Pressure says, “Lie to protect yourself.”
God says:
Trust Me.
Fear says, “Take matters into your own hands.”
Practicing God’s Word means choosing God’s instruction over our emotions.
Obedience becomes powerful when it costs you something.- LET THE WORD CORRECT YOU.
Don’t read the Bible only to find verses that agree with you.
Read it to allow God to change you.
Hebrews 4:12 teaches that the Word of God is living and powerful.
Sometimes God’s Word will comfort you.
Sometimes it will challenge you.
Sometimes it will expose you.
Sometimes it will correct you.
But whatever it does, don’t reject the correction.
A good believer doesn’t only ask:
“Lord, bless me through Your Word.”
He also says:“Lord, change me through Your Word.”
- LET YOUR LIFE BECOME A SERMON
One of the strongest ways to preach Christ is through your lifestyle.
People may not remember every sermon you preach, but they may remember:
How you treated them.
How you forgave them.
How you handled pressure.
How honest you were.
How you helped them.
How you behaved when nobody was watching.
Your life should give credibility to your message.
Titus 2:7 says:
“In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works.”
Don’t just carry the Bible.
Let the Bible shape your character.
Genesis 6–8 gives us a powerful example.
God instructed Noah to build an ark because judgment was coming.
Noah could have listened and done nothing.
He could have questioned God’s instruction.
He could have waited until the rain started.
But Noah acted on God’s Word.
Hebrews 11:7 tells us that Noah:
“moved with fear, prepared an ark…”
His obedience preceded the evidence.
Noah built before the rain came.
That is faith.
Sometimes God will ask you to obey before you see the result.
Don’t wait for everything to make sense before obeying God.
When God speaks, obedience is your response.
Starting today:
Church, the world does not need more Christians who can only quote Scripture. It needs Christians who can demonstrate Scripture.
Don’t just read about love—love.
Don’t just read about forgiveness—forgive.
Don’t just read about generosity—give.
Don’t just read about prayer—pray.
Don’t just read about holiness—live holy.
Don’t just read about serving—serve.
Don’t just hear the Word—
Because the greatest evidence that the Word of God is working in you is not merely how much Scripture you know, but how much Scripture you live.
Be a hearer.
Be a believer.
But above all, BE A DOER OF GOD’S WORD.
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only…” — James 1:22
Your Bible should not only be in your hand.
The Word must be in your heart, in your decisions, in your character, and in your daily life.
Give your life to Jesus by joining a Bible believing Church near you.
