The Days of Noah–are Here Again

The days of Noah are here again

SERMON TOPIC:

THE DAYS OF NOAH….. ARE HERE AGAIN.

Main Text:
Matthew 24:37–39

Supporting Texts:

Genesis 6:5–14; 2 Timothy 3:1–5; Luke 17:26–30; 1 Peter 3:20

WHEN HISTORY BEGINS TO REPEAT ITSELF.

There are seasons when the world does not merely become difficult—it becomes spiritually dangerous.
Jesus warned His disciples that there would be a generation in which the conditions surrounding Noah would appear again:

“But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” — Matthew 24:37
Noah lived in a generation where people were busy living, building, marrying, buying, selling and pursuing their normal activities—but God was being ignored.
The tragedy was not that people were unaware of life.
The tragedy was that they were unaware of God.
They heard Noah’s warning, but they continued with business as usual.
And then the rain came.
Jesus did not mention Noah merely as an interesting Bible story. He used Noah as a warning to every generation.
We are surrounded by technological advancement, social media, artificial intelligence, entertainment, education, business and unprecedented opportunities. Yet, alongside these developments, we also see violence, moral confusion, family breakdown, dishonesty, greed, hatred and increasing spiritual indifference.
The question is not simply:
“Are we living in the last days?”
The more important question is:
“How should Christians live when the world around them is moving away from God?”

  1. THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE DAYS OF MORAL CORRUPTION.
    Genesis 6:5

“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
The problem of Noah’s generation was not merely what people did externally.
It had reached the heart.
Their thoughts, desires and intentions were becoming increasingly corrupt.
Jesus warned that the last days would also involve serious moral and spiritual challenges.
2 Timothy 3:1–2
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves…”
Notice something important:
Paul does not begin by talking about technology.
He begins with the human heart.
Self-love becomes greater than love for God.
Personal pleasure becomes more important than obedience.
People begin asking:
“What do I want?”
instead of:
“What does God want?”

Spiritual Insight.

A society becomes dangerous when sin becomes normal and righteousness becomes strange.
When people stop feeling convicted about what once troubled their conscience, something serious is happening.
2. THE DAYS OF NOAH WERE DAYS OF EXTREME BUSYNESS.
Matthew 24:38

“For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage…”
Jesus did not say that eating, drinking or marriage were sinful.
The problem was that people became so occupied with ordinary life that they ignored God’s warning.
They were busy—but spiritually blind.
They were building families—but not building their relationship with God.
They were making plans—but they had no room for God’s plan.
This is a warning to us.
There is nothing wrong with education.
Nothing wrong with business.
Nothing wrong with technology.
Nothing wrong with building a career.
Nothing wrong with enjoying legitimate blessings.
But when these things become more important than God, they become spiritual distractions.
You can be:
Busy and still empty.
Successful and still lost.
Connected online and disconnected from God.
Wealthy and spiritually bankrupt.
Popular and completely unknown in heaven.
Do not become so busy preparing for tomorrow that you forget to prepare for eternity.
3. NOAH STOOD DIFFERENT IN A CORRUPT GENERATION.
Genesis 6:8–9
“But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”
And the Bible says:
“Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.”
What made Noah different?
He walked with God.
Noah did not allow the corruption around him to determine his character.
He did not say:
“Everybody is doing it.”
He did not use his generation as an excuse for disobedience.
He chose God’s way.
This is the challenge for today’s Christian.
You may live in a corrupt environment without becoming corrupt.
You can work among dishonest people and remain honest.
You can live in a sexually immoral culture and maintain purity.
You can use social media without allowing social media to control your mind.
You can use artificial intelligence without surrendering your spiritual discernment.
You can be modern without abandoning biblical truth.
Noah was surrounded by darkness, but darkness did not enter Noah.
4. NOAH DID NOT ONLY BELIEVE GOD—HE OBEYED GOD.
Genesis 6:22 says:
“Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.”
That is powerful.
Noah did not merely say:
“I believe God.”
He demonstrated his faith through obedience.
God told him to build an ark before there was any visible evidence of the flood.
Imagine the questions Noah must have faced.
“Why are you building this enormous structure?”
“Where is the rain?”
“Why are you doing something nobody else is doing?”
But Noah continued.
Hebrews 11:7
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark…”
Faith is not merely believing what God said.
Faith is acting on what God said even before you see the result.
Perhaps God is asking you to:
Forgive someone.
Leave a sinful relationship.
Return to prayer.
Restore your family altar.
Stop compromising.
Begin serving Him again.
Speak the truth.
Raise your children according to God’s Word.
Do not wait until everything makes sense.
Obedience is the evidence that you truly believe God.
5. THE ARK REPRESENTS GOD’S WAY OF SALVATION.
The ark was God’s provision for Noah’s generation.
The flood was coming, but God provided a way of escape.
Today, our ultimate refuge is not an organization, denomination, building, position or possession.
Our salvation is found in Jesus Christ.
John 14:6
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
The message of Noah was essentially:
“The judgment is coming. Get into the ark.”
The message of the Gospel is:
“Christ has provided salvation. Come to Him.”
There is still an opportunity to repent.
There is still an opportunity to return to God.
There is still an opportunity to believe.
There is still an opportunity to change direction.
But we must not presume upon tomorrow.

BIBLICAL CASE STUDY:

NOAH AND HIS GENERATION.

Noah had something that his generation desperately needed:
a relationship with God.
Genesis 6:11 says:

“The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.”
Yet Noah remained faithful.
Think about the pressure.
One man.
One family.
One ark.
One instruction.
One God.
And an entire generation moving in another direction.
Noah teaches us that you do not need majority support to obey God.
Sometimes obedience means standing when everyone else is sitting.
Sometimes faith means saying “No” when everyone else says “Yes.”
Sometimes holiness means becoming unpopular.
But if God is pleased with you, popularity is not your greatest concern.

DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS.

  1. A corrupt generation needs uncompromising believers.
The answer to darkness is not to complain about darkness.
    The answer is to shine.
    Jesus said:

“Ye are the light of the world.” — Matthew 5:14

  1. The greatest danger is spiritual blindness.
People in Noah’s generation saw Noah building.
    They saw the ark.
    They heard the warning.
But they did not understand the seriousness of the moment.
You can be physically alive and spiritually asleep.
  2. God’s delay is not God’s absence.
For many years Noah built the ark.
The flood did not come immediately.
But God’s patience should never be interpreted as God’s approval of sin.
  3. Families must become spiritual training grounds.
Noah did not save only himself.
    His household entered the ark.
Parents must teach their children God’s Word, prayer, integrity, purity and faith.
The church must not leave spiritual formation entirely to society.

PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS.

  1. RETURN TO THE WORD
    Read the Bible consistently.
Don’t allow social media to become louder than Scripture.
  2. RESTORE YOUR PRAYER LIFE
Create time every day to speak with God.
A prayerless Christian becomes vulnerable to spiritual confusion.
  3. GUARD YOUR HEART
Be careful about what you watch, listen to, celebrate and normalize.
    Proverbs 4:23

“Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

  1. BUILD YOUR FAMILY ALTAR
    Pray together.
    Read Scripture together.
Talk about faith with your children.
  2. REFUSE COMPROMISE
    Do not allow:
    “Everybody is doing it”
    to become your theology.
  3. SHARE THE GOSPEL
Noah did not merely build an ark.
His life became a testimony to his generation.
Your workplace, school, business, neighborhood and social-media platform can become your mission field.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION.

  1. Am I becoming more like Christ or more like the culture around me?
  2. What has become more important to me than God?
  3. Have I allowed busyness to weaken my prayer life?
  4. Where am I currently compromising biblical truth?
  5. What example am I giving to the younger generation?
  6. If Jesus came today, would I be spiritually prepared?
  7. What is one area where God is asking me to obey Him?

POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS.

Father, give me the grace to remain faithful to You in a changing generation.
2.
Lord, deliver me from every form of spiritual blindness and spiritual sleep.
3.
Father, purify my heart and remove every desire that is contrary to Your will.
4.
Give me courage to stand for biblical truth when others compromise.
5.
Lord, restore my prayer life and hunger for Your Word.
6.
Father, protect my family from the destructive influences of this generation.
7.
Give Christian parents wisdom to raise godly children in these modern times.
8.
Lord, make my life a light in my generation.
9.
Give me the courage to share the Gospel with those around me.
10.
Father, help me to finish my Christian journey faithfully and be ready for the coming of Christ.

STRONG CLOSING: BUILD YOUR ARK.

The days of Noah were ordinary until they suddenly became extraordinary.
People woke up.
They went to work.
They bought and sold.
They married.
They made plans.
They laughed.
They continued with life.
And then—
the rain came.
The greatest lesson is not that a flood once destroyed the earth.
The greatest lesson is that God warned people before judgment came.
Today, the Church has a responsibility.
We must not become comfortable in a world that needs Christ.
We must not allow culture to rewrite Scripture.
We must not allow entertainment to replace devotion.
We must not allow technology to replace wisdom.
We must not allow prosperity to replace holiness.
We must not allow busyness to replace God.
Jesus said:

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” — Matthew 24:44
The question is not whether the world is ready.
Are YOU ready?
The question is not whether your generation is walking with God.
Are YOU walking with God?
The question is not whether everybody else is entering the ark.
Have YOU entered God’s provision of salvation through Jesus Christ?
Noah built while others laughed.
Noah obeyed while others ignored.
Noah walked with God while others walked away from God.
May we be a Noah generation—not merely a generation that recognizes the signs, but a generation that remains faithful to God.
The days may be like the days of Noah.
But may our lives be like Noah’s life:
FAITHFUL.
OBEDIENT.
RIGHTEOUS.
UNCOMPROMISING.
WALKING WITH GOD.
Don’t just watch the generation.
Don’t just criticize the generation.
Don’t just complain about the generation.

BE A LIGHT IN THE GENERATION.

Walk with God.
Obey His Word.
Raise your family in faith.
Preach Christ.
Stand for truth.
And remain ready.

THE DAYS OF NOAH ARE HERE AGAIN—BUT GOD IS STILL LOOKING FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL
WALK WITH HIM.
