Preparing for Christ’s Return

PREPARING FOR CHRIST’S RETURN

“Are You Ready for the Master?”

Key Scripture:

Matthew 24:44 —

“Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”

Christian Readiness, Repent, Jesus Is Coming Soon

One day, Jesus Christ will return. It will not be a story. It will not be a prediction made by human beings. Instead, the return will fulfill God’s promise. This is not a tale to entertain. It is a solemn truth for all people to heed. The event will demand sincere repentance and steadfast faith.

The question is not, ‘Will Christ return?’. The real question is: how should you prepare for that day? Prepare by living in faith and obedience. Consider your daily choices, your heart, and your relationships. Examine whether they reflect readiness. Your response matters and should show a heart surrendered to God.

That is why you should pursue Christian Readiness, Repent, Jesus Is Coming Soon. The coming day will judge deeds and hearts. Live so that your life reflects grace and obedience.

If Jesus returns today, will I be ready?

Many people prepare for examinations, weddings, careers, retirement, and old age.

We make plans for tomorrow, but sometimes we live as though eternity does not exist.

Jesus repeatedly warned His followers to watch, remain faithful, and be ready.

His return should not produce fear in a believer who is walking with Him.

It should produce hope, holiness, urgency, and expectation, Christian Readiness, Repent, Jesus Is Coming Soon.

  1. CHRIST’S RETURN IS CERTAIN.

Scripture: John 14:2–3

Jesus said:

“I will come again, and receive you unto myself.”
Jesus did not say, “I might come.”
He said, “I will come again.”
The first coming of Christ was fulfilled exactly as Scripture declared. His birth, ministry, death, and resurrection were not accidents. Therefore, believers can trust His promise concerning His return.
Acts 1:11
After Jesus ascended into heaven, the angels told the disciples that Jesus would come again.
This gives us a powerful truth:
Jesus is coming back.
We may not know the exact day or hour, but we know the promise is sure.

Spiritual Insight

The certainty of Christ’s return should change the way we live today.
If you truly believe Jesus is coming, you will begin to ask:
“Am I living in a way that honors Him?”

  1. BE SPIRITUALLY AWAKE.

Scripture:

Matthew 25:1–13

Jesus gave the parable of the ten virgins.
Five were wise and five were foolish.
They all expected the bridegroom.
They all had lamps.
They all became tired.
But there was one major difference:
The wise had oil.
When the bridegroom came, the foolish were not prepared.
Jesus concluded:

“Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.”
What does this teach us?
Being around Christians does not automatically make us spiritually prepared.
Having a Bible does not automatically mean we are walking with God.
Going to church does not replace a personal relationship with Christ.
We must maintain our spiritual life through:
Prayer
God’s Word
Faith
Obedience
Repentance
Fellowship
Evangelism
Don’t wait until the trumpet sounds before you start preparing.

  1. LIVE A LIFE OF HOLINESS.

Scripture: 1 Peter 1:15–16

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy…”
Preparing for Christ’s return is not merely about knowing prophetic events.
It is about living for Christ.
We cannot deliberately embrace sin while claiming that we are waiting for Jesus.
Hebrews 12:14
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
Holiness means allowing God to transform our:
Thoughts
Words
Relationships
Attitudes
Desires
Decisions
Private lives
Important truth
You don’t prepare for Christ’s return by predicting the date. You prepare by faithfully living for Him.
Nobody knows the exact day or hour.
Therefore, every day should be lived as though Christ could come at any moment.
4. REMAIN FAITHFUL UNTIL HE COMES.

Scripture:

Matthew 24:45–46

Jesus spoke about the faithful servant who was found doing what his master had commanded when the master returned.
This is extremely important.
Jesus is not simply asking:
“Are you waiting?”
He is asking:
“What are you doing while you wait?”
Some are waiting by serving.
Some are waiting by preaching.
Some are waiting by raising godly families.
Some are waiting by helping the poor.
Some are waiting by encouraging the discouraged.
Some are waiting by faithfully doing their work.
1 Corinthians 15:58

“Be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord…”
Don’t abandon your assignment because Christ has not returned yet.
Keep serving. Keep praying. Keep preaching. Keep loving. Keep believing.
5. HELP OTHERS GET READY

Scripture:

Matthew 28:19–20

Jesus commanded His disciples to make disciples of all nations.
If we genuinely believe Christ is returning, we should have an urgency for souls.
There are people around us who need to hear about:
Jesus
Salvation
Repentance
Grace
Forgiveness
Eternal life
You may be the person God wants to use to reach somebody.
Your family member may need your testimony.
Your colleague may need encouragement.
Your friend may need an invitation to Christ.
Your social media platform may become someone’s first encounter with the Gospel.
Don’t only prepare yourself. Help somebody else prepare.

BIBLICAL CASE STUDY:

NOAH

Genesis 6–7
God told Noah that judgment was coming.
Noah believed God and began preparing.
People around him may not have understood what he was doing.
But Noah continued.
He built the ark.
He obeyed God’s instructions.
And when the flood came, those who had entered the ark were preserved.
The lesson
Noah did not prepare because he could see the rain.
He prepared because he believed God’s Word.
That is faith.
Today, we are also called to live by God’s Word even when the world around us does not understand.

PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS: HOW DO I PREPARE?

  1. Make sure your relationship with Christ is genuine.
Don’t depend on your church membership, family background, ministry position, or religious activities.
    Know Christ personally.
  2. Examine your life regularly.
    Ask:
“Is there anything in my life that I know God wants me to surrender?”
    Repent quickly.
  3. Stay connected to God’s Word.
    Psalm 119:105 says:

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
Read it.
Study it.
Believe it.
Practice it.
4. Maintain a prayer life.
Prayer keeps our hearts sensitive to God.
Don’t wait for a crisis before you pray.
5. Forgive people.
Don’t carry hatred, bitterness, and unforgiveness into tomorrow.
Release people to God.
6. Serve God faithfully.
Find your assignment and be faithful with it.
7. Share the Gospel.
Somebody’s eternity may be affected by your willingness to speak about Jesus.

DEEP SPIRITUAL INSIGHTS.

  1. The return of Christ is a call to urgency.
    Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
    Therefore, don’t postpone obedience.
  2. Preparation is personal.
In the parable of the ten virgins, the wise could not transfer their oil to the foolish.
There are things nobody can do for you.
You must personally walk with Christ.
  3. Delay does not mean cancellation.
Jesus has not returned yet, but His promise remains.
2 Peter 3:9 reminds us that God’s apparent delay is connected with His patience and desire that people come to repentance.
  4. Waiting should produce faithfulness.
Christianity is not merely about beginning well.
    We must remain faithful.
  5. Eternity gives today’s decisions meaning.
The way you live today matters because this life is not the end.

QUESTIONS FOR PERSONAL REFLECTION.

  1. If Christ returned today, would I be ready?
  2. Is my relationship with Jesus genuine?
  3. Am I spiritually awake or spiritually asleep?
  4. Is there any known sin I am refusing to surrender?
  5. Am I faithfully serving God with what He has given me?
  6. Who around me needs to hear about Jesus?
  7. If Jesus examined my private life, would it reflect my public confession?
  8. What must I change today rather than postpone until tomorrow?

POWERFUL PRAYER POINTS.

Father, help me to remain spiritually awake and prepared for the return of Jesus Christ, in Jesus’ name.
2.
Lord Jesus, remove everything in my life that is standing between me and You.
3.
Father, give me grace to live a holy and faithful life until the end.
4.
Lord, restore my passion for prayer, Your Word, and Your presence.
5.
Father, help me not to become spiritually careless because of the delay of Your coming.
6.
Lord, make my life a testimony that will bring others to Christ.
7.
Father, when Christ returns, let me be found faithful, watchful, and ready.

DON’T WAIT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE.

The Bible says in Matthew 24:42:

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.”

The door of preparation is open today.
If your relationship with Christ is weak, strengthen it.
If you have wandered away, return.
If you are living in sin, repent.
If you have become spiritually cold, seek God again.
If you have stopped serving, rise again.
If you have never surrendered your life to Christ, today is the day to respond.
Don’t spend your life preparing for everything except eternity.
Jesus is coming again.
Let Him find you watching.
Let Him find you praying.
Let Him find you serving.
Let Him find you loving.
Let Him find you faithful.
Let Him find you ready.

FINAL DECLARATION.

“I will not live carelessly. I will walk with Christ, obey His Word, serve faithfully, and remain ready for His return. When my Lord comes, may He find me faithful. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
