Say This Prayer

SERMON TOPIC:

SAY THIS PRAYER: “GOD WILL BREAK EVERY CHAIN HOLDING ME BACK”

You Were Not Created to Remain Bound.

There are chains that are visible, and there are chains that are invisible.
A person can be physically free and still be spiritually, emotionally, financially, mentally, or habitually bound. You may smile with people while fighting a battle nobody knows about.
But hear this today:
What has held you back for years does not have the authority to hold you forever!
The God who brought Israel out of Egypt is still a deliverer. The God who opened prison doors for Paul and Silas is still able to open doors. The God who raised Lazarus from the grave is still able to bring dead situations back to life.
Your chain may be strong, but your God is stronger!

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” — John 8:36
Today, let your faith rise as you declare:
“GOD WILL BREAK EVERY CHAIN HOLDING ME BACK!”

  1. GOD CAN BREAK CHAINS YOU CANNOT BREAK BY YOURSELF
There are battles where human strength is not enough.
You can make resolutions, try again, start again, and even cry out for help—but some strongholds require the intervention of God.
The Israelites spent generations under Egyptian oppression, but when God arose, Pharaoh could not keep them forever.

Exodus 14:13–14 says:

“Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD…”
Israel’s deliverance did not begin when Pharaoh agreed to release them. It began when God decided it was time for them to leave.
Sometimes your greatest breakthrough begins when you stop depending entirely on your own strength and start trusting God’s power.
Spiritual insight:
The fact that you have struggled with something for a long time does not mean you will struggle with it forever.
God specializes in breaking impossible chains.
2. SOME CHAINS ARE BROKEN THROUGH PRAYER AND SPIRITUAL PERSISTENCE.
Prayer is not merely talking to God. Prayer is also an expression of dependence upon God.
Paul and Silas were beaten, imprisoned, and placed in chains.
Yet Acts 16:25 says:
“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God…”
Then something happened:
“And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” — Acts 16:26
Notice something powerful:
They prayed while they were still in prison.
They did not wait for freedom before praising God.
Their worship rose before their breakthrough came.
Never allow your chains to silence your prayer.
You may be saying:
“I have prayed for years.”
“Nothing seems to be changing.”
“Why am I still here?”
Keep praying.
Your midnight may be dark, but God can still create a morning.
3. GOD CAN BREAK THE CHAIN OF REPEATED SETBACKS.
Some people feel as though they are constantly moving forward and then being pushed backward.
One opportunity comes—then disappears.
One relationship begins—then collapses.
One business starts growing—then encounters problems.
One spiritual season becomes fruitful—then discouragement comes.
But you must understand:
A setback is not necessarily the end of your story.
Joseph was rejected by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and imprisoned.
Yet the prison was not his destination.
God eventually moved him from the prison to the palace.
Psalm 126:1 says:
“When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.
God can turn your story around so completely that people will wonder:
“How did this happen?”
And your answer will be:
“The Lord did it.”
4. DO NOT REBUILD THE CHAINS GOD HAS BROKEN.
This is where many people miss their freedom.
God opens the door, but they keep walking back toward the prison.
God delivers them from a destructive habit, but they return to the same environment.
God gives them a new beginning, but they continue carrying the mindset of the old life.
Israel left Egypt physically, but Egypt had to be removed from their thinking.
Paul says:
“Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free.” — Galatians 5:1
Freedom must be protected.
If God delivers you from something, do not keep feeding what God is trying to kill.
If God breaks the chain of bitterness, stop feeding resentment.
If God breaks the chain of sinful habits, stop deliberately returning to the same temptation.
If God gives you a new beginning, walk differently.
5. YOUR DELIVERANCE SHOULD BECOME A TESTIMONY.
God does not deliver us merely so we can say, “I escaped.”
He wants our lives to testify of His goodness.
The man Jesus delivered from demons in Mark 5 wanted to follow Jesus physically, but Jesus told him:
“Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee.” — Mark 5:19
Your testimony can become somebody else’s encouragement.
The place where you once cried may become the place where you tell others:
“God brought me through.”
The battle that almost destroyed you may become the testimony that strengthens somebody else’s faith.

BIBLICAL CASE STUDY:

PAUL AND SILAS.

Imagine their situation.
They were serving God.
They were preaching the Gospel.
Yet they ended up beaten and imprisoned.
Sometimes you can be doing God’s will and still encounter opposition.
Difficulty does not automatically mean you have missed God.
At midnight, instead of complaining, Paul and Silas prayed and worshipped.
Then God intervened.
The earthquake shook the foundation.
The doors opened.
The chains fell.
And the jailer eventually encountered the Gospel.
Their prison became a platform for God’s power.
That is a powerful lesson:
The place of your greatest struggle can become the place of your greatest testimony.

PRACTICAL ACTION STEPS.

  1. Identify the chain
    Ask yourself honestly:
    What is holding me back?
Is it fear? Sin? Laziness? Bitterness? Wrong relationships? Discouragement? Addiction? Unforgiveness? Negative thinking? Spiritual weakness?
You cannot confront what you refuse to identify.
  2. Take it to God in prayer
Stop carrying alone what you were designed to surrender to God.
  3. Replace the wrong pattern
Do not simply say, “I will stop.”
Replace the destructive habit with a godly one.
  4. Fill your heart with God’s Word

John 8:32: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Truth exposes lies and strengthens faith.
5. Walk away from environments that keep rebuilding the chain
Sometimes deliverance requires a change of environment, association, routine, or behavior.
6. Keep praising God
Do not praise God only after the breakthrough.
Praise Him while you are waiting.

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION.

  1. What chain has been holding me back?
  2. Have I truly surrendered this situation to God?
  3. Is there anything I am doing that keeps strengthening the chain?
  4. What practical change do I need to make?
  5. Am I willing to trust God even when I cannot see immediate results?
  6. If God breaks this chain, how will I use my freedom to glorify Him?
